The Top 5 Places for a Christmas Meal in the Cotswolds

December has arrived so we are now officially allowed to enjoy all things Christmas! Present buying commences, trees go up, cupboards fill with mince pies and chocolates and glasses of mulled wine are poured. Many of us head out for food and drinks at this festive time of year, perhaps you are going for a work christmas meal or are meeting friends for a christmas meal and drinks, maybe you are even having your christmas day lunch out this year. Whatever the case, we’ve selected five of the top places for a christmas meal in the Cotswolds.

The Wild Rabbit, Kingham

The Wild Rabbit is a truly beautiful modern take on a traditional British Inn. The atmosphere is relaxed and the food is a delicious, locally sourced, seasonal offering. The pub itself is stunning and would make a magnificent setting for a christmas meal.

The Wild Rabbit also has rooms so if you’d like to get away for the christmas period then look no further. The celebrations begin on christmas eve with afternoon tea and mince pies around the double-sided fireplace and the evening brings live music, cocktails and a five-course tasting menu.

The big day starts with stockings for all of the guests and a champagne breakfast, and festivities go on through the day with a five course christmas meal and a a treasure hunt in the village in the afternoon. Activities, food and fun go on right through until boxing day, you will really be spoilt!

Soho Farmhouse, Oxfordshire

If you are looking to spend the christmas period away then another absolute gem is Soho Farmhouse. Boasting 40 luxury cabins, a seven bedroomed farmhouse and fa our bedroomed cottage it suits all tastes and this place is something really rather special. Playing host to a variety of Britain’s elite you might even get to celeb spot this christmas if you book a stay.

Christmas here would mean relaxing in nature surrounded by laid back luxury, very cool surroundings and lots of merriment with your christmas meal.

Soho House is a members only club but you can certainly stay at the Farmhouse as a non-member, just go online and fill out an enquiry form.

131, Cheltenham

Any Christmas party or christmas meal would be great fun at 131 in Cheltenham, with Crazy 8’s bar attached to continue on the festivities into the night.

131 have a special christmas and NYE menu and will cater for all of your party needs too.

This restaurant is attached to the hotel but welcomes non-guests with open arms and has a great vibe with relaxed, best of British dining in a fun and vibrant  atmosphere.

131 is located on Cheltenham’s promenade and is a short walk to other bars in Cheltenham town or Montpelier so is a great place to start your christmas party night or just party on down here all night.

Broadway, The Lygon Arms

If you fancy a real slice of the Cotswolds then Broadway should top your list and The Lygon Arms is a beautiful hotel, restaurant and spa located right in the middle of Broadway.

The Lygon Arms will provide you with the traditional christmas experience that you dream about, 16th century Cotswold building, open fires and cosy arm chairs, christmas lights, amazing food and bubbles in hand,

They are offering a variety of christmas packages and also have opportunities through this month for the kids to meet Father Christmas. Packages include rooms for people wanting to stay, meals for those wanting a christmas meal or party packages for bigger numbers.

The food is sublime, the service is very friendly and the surroundings are blissful, we couldn’t recommend The Lygon Arms more.

The Kings Hotel, Chipping Campden

Choose to come and stay for a few nights or simply have your christmas meal here, either way you won’t be disappointed. The village of Chipping Campden is as beautiful as it gets, lit up with christmas lights at this time of year it is simply christmas in a nutshell.
