Camping in the Cotswolds

The Cotswolds are a beautiful area, rich in gorgeous countryside in all directions and a really good place for a break away to clear the mind and get some fresh air into your lungs, which is why many people choose to go camping in the Cotswolds.

The thought of camping strikes fear into a lot of people, but if you are prepared and take the right gear its a great way to get away on a spontaneous break relatively inexpensively.

There are many different campsites to choose from with varying facilities and we talk about some of our favourites below.

Cotswold View Caravan and Camping, Charlbury, Oxfordshire

Overlooking the Evenlode Valley and Wychwood Forest in 54 acres of rolling countryside, forest and farmland, this campsite offers something really special.

It is ideally located to reach all the different areas of the Cotswolds and has some fabulous walking and cycling trails right from the campsite.

There are parks for children to play in, animals to visit on the farm, a tennis court and skittle alley for hire and a small, well-stocked shop and off-license.

With camping, caravaning, glamping and holiday home options there really is something for everybody here, it is certainly a great option for camping in the Cotswolds.

Winchcombe Camping and Caravanning Club Site

A lovely spot near the beautiful town of Winchcombe, the Camping and Caravanning Club Site has perfect views over the surrounding countryside.

The unique point about this site is the carp pool which attracts fishermen aplenty and also lots of birdlife.

The site has a small shop for your amenities, a lovely dog walk and a games room, but the focus is on being out in nature in the middle of the countryside and really kicking back.

If you fancy eating out then head for Winchcombe where you’ll find local boozers or high-end restaurants and pubs all set in this quaint and very pretty town.

The Cotswold Farm Park Campsite

This is camping in the Cotswolds with a difference since it is located at Adam Hensons’ Cotswold Farm Park, a fabulous park packed with things to do such as play parks, bouncing pillows, animals and so much more. The campsite offers camping, caravans and glamping and is set in the rolling countryside of the Cotswolds.

The welcome lodge was updated last year and offers heated showers, a microwace, freezer and toaster and if you fancy having lunch in the gorgeous farm park cafe you’ll find homemade cakes, light lunches and lots of lovely snacks.

To enter the farm park you’ll have to pay the normal day-rate but can re-enter throughout your stay without having to pay again.

Far Peak Camping, Northleach, Gloucestershire
This lovely Cotswold campsite has everything from a simple pitch to rent to electric hook-ups and bell tents and shepherds huts, all set on 25 acres of woodland and parkland.

They are open to everyone; couples, families, individuals and groups and onsite they have a cafe, a low level ropes course and there is a nice pub within walking distance, what more could you ask for!

Just a short drive away you’ll find Bourton-on-the-Water and Cirencester; its a great position for camping in the Cotswolds.

Hoburne Cotswolds, South Cerney, Gloucestershire

Based at the Cotswold Water Park, this lovely campsite has one really great added bonus – a pool! Pick from the indoor or outdoor pool if the weather is great, plus there are the lakes themselves where you can visit the sandy beach, hire out a pedalo or try out the awesome inflatable assault course.

The campsite has a kids club, fitness trail and gym, crazy golf, sauna and soft play. You won’t be getting bored that’s for sure!
