6 Dog Friendly Pubs in the Cotswolds

There is nothing nicer than a good walk followed by a well earned visit to your favourite pub. we don’t want to leave our four legged friends at home when we know they would simply adore to walk with us but unfortunately not all pubs would welcome our little furry folk with open arms.
So if you’re looking for dog friendly pub in the Cotswolds where you’ll feel welcome and enjoy some great food and a nice drink then have a look at our list below.

 

1.The Lamb Inn, Burford
Located in the beautiful Cotswold town of Burford nestled between Cheltenham and Oxford, you’ll find The Lamb Inn. A wonderfully traditional pub with comfortable armchairs, log fires, lovely locals and welcoming staff for both you and your pooch. This lovely pub also has rooms if you’re looking for somewhere to stay.
There are walks aplenty in this area; from Great Barrington to Burford or through the villages of the Windrush Valley.

 

2.The New Inn, Coln
Coln, St Aldwyn’s is a village in the heart of the Cotswolds set in the unspoilt countryside of the Coln river valley. Here you’ll find The New Inn who are an unashamedly dog friendly pub where your fabulous fur ball will be fed and watered and will even have their own dog bowls in different rooms in the bar and restaurant. There are also large dog beds in each room for your canines to relax in and they are welcomed to stay overnight if you are booking a room.
There are some lovely walks in the area around Bibury and Coln St Aldwyn’s.


3.Duke of Wellington, Bourton on the Water
Any trip to the Cotswolds would not be complete without a visit to Bourton on the Water, and thanks to the Duke of Wellington, your dog can enjoy the trip too. A super dog friendly pub sits on the waterside overlooking the river Windrush, it’s a beautiful spot. With a classic British pub menu and a whole host of wines and beers you and your pooch will be most happy here.
Around Bourton you could visit the model village or birdland, or take a walk along the river Windrush and The Slaughters.


4.The Churchill Arms, Paxford
Paxford is a charming village near to Chipping Campden. The Churchill Arms is a quintessentially Cotswold pub that you will adore, and so will your four legged friend! There are dog biscuits and bowls of water waiting their arrival and you can treat yourself to something lovely off the menu, the food really is great. This dog friendly pub has a contemporary feel and boasts beautiful boutique rooms too.
A lovely circular walk starts in the village and heads around Northwick Park and Broad Campden. Alternatively have a stroll around Moreton in Marsh at all of the boutique shops and cafes.


5.The Mount Inn, Stanton
Stanton near Broadway lays claim to this dog friendly pub which was nominated for ‘Best Pub Restaurant’ in 2015 and welcomes people and dogs alike through the door.
This a relaxed pub with excellent locally sourced food and beers and the views from the beer garden are quite special, out across the Vale of Evesham. Chill here with your beer on a nice sunny afternoon, or even a chilly winter one if you wrap up well and warm yourself up by the fire afterwards.
There are plenty of choices for walks in this area, around the village itself or head for Broadway and climb up to Broadway tour for more spectacular views across 16 counties.


6.The Kings Arms, Didmarton
We might possibly be so bold as to say we’ve left the best to last. The Kings Arms in Didmarton is a dog friendly pub that really goes the extra mile in welcoming our furry friends. With their own resident dog they really know how to please our pooches and offer beds, water bowls and biscuits plus a big enclosed garden that dogs are allowed to run freely in and they’ve even supplied bags and bins for doggy mess to be cleaned up with.
It won’t just be your dog that loves this pub though, you’ll certainly be as warmly welcomed with seasonal British cuisine and charming cottage accommodation.
In this area you could pay a visit to the beautiful Westonbirt Arboretum or have a stroll around Castle Combe Village.
Thank goodness there are many a dog friendly pub in the Cotswolds and that you don’t have to compromise on quality yourself to go to the pub with your pooch. These pubs are all really beautiful with excellent food choices and beer and wine a plenty, so no more leaving your furry friend at home on your next Cotswold walk, the doors are wide open to you all.
